Recently, the 2019 World Artificial Intelligence Conference was held at the Shanghai World Expo Center. This conference brought together leaders in the industry from around the world including Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Tencent CEO Ma Huateng, Microsoft Global EVP Shen Xiangyang, United Nations Digital Cooperation High-level Panel Co-Chair Ma Yun, and many more. Included in this noteworthy group was Andrew Shewbart, EVP and Director of ALO7.

Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Education
The WAI conference focuses on technological advancements, industry trends, and the future of AI, including the future of AI and education. During the “Education Technology and Artificial Intelligence Forum,” Shewbart joined Yang Ming, a doctoral senior education technology expert at the University of California, USA; Alexander I. Rudnicky, a professor of computer science at Carnegie Mellon, USA; Jean Philippe Pierron, a professor at the Third University of Lyon, France; and Zhang Fan, the vice president of Yiou for a round table discussion. The theme of the discussion was, “AI Leads the Era; Education Creates the Future.”
Shewbart opened the discussion by using ALO7’s business model as an example. ALO7 uses artificial intelligence to enhance its online and offline English language classes. Shewbart said, “ALO7 has the ability to integrate intelligent hardware, digital teaching content, and integrated AI technology to promote intelligent teaching, personalization, and data visualization.” He pointed out that the key to AI empowerment education is not to replace teachers but to strengthen their work. AI can provide teachers with intelligent feedback to improve their teaching methods and research. And, by doing so, it can let students get the learning experience that suits them best.
Finally, Shewbart wrapped up the discussion by saying that technology can bring significant changes to education. ALO7 will continue to revolutionize the future of education in partnership with teachers and cultivate world citizens and future leaders who love to learn.
